The Humanitarian Foundation founded by the Grottoes of North America in 1949 is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization. (Contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by IRS.)
Here are some facts that make the Humanitarian Foundation's mission unique:
Designed to help provide the best dental care possible for children with special needs (children with Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation, Muscular Dystrophy, or Organ Transplants recipients)
Our dental program combines unique partnerships with qualified dentists throughout the United States and Canada.
Tens of thousands of patients have been treated at the Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois since the inception of our program in 1970. at Medical College of Ohio in Toledo, Ohio since 1987, and at Children's Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.
Besides the regional treatment centers with inpatient and outpatient care,our service has been extended to many communities all over the United States and Canada.
The Humanitarian Foundation has been an important contributor to Cerebral Palsy Research since the early 1950s.
The Humanitarian Foundation supports the local Grottoes in their efforts to help the State and Local Special Olympics.
Through the PGM Michael G. Wahl Award, the Humanitarian Foundation makes a $5,000 gift to the Grotto with the largest percentage increase of dental service over the previous year. This years award went to Gul Reazee Grotto in Portland, Oregon.
In addition, the PGM Robert W. Rush Award is given to a Dr of Smiles, in recognition of his tireless efforts in coordinating the dental program between the families, dentists,hospitals and our office. (The Dr of Smiles is the local Grotto representative) This years Dr of Smiles award was awarded to Lloyd Fries of Gul Reazee Grotto in Portland, Oregon. The PGM Donald R. LaBarre Award is presented to the Grotto who helped the largest number of children in a given year. This years award went to Gul Reazee Grotto in Portland, Oregon.
